Designer dogs, look out! This one's for you. What are you wearing?

With the August 17th Pet Fashion Week kick-off date for 2007 fast approaching, this year's exhibitors already number over 200- double that of last year. Runway shows, design awards, symposiums, and the sparkle of Swarovski's will give PFW the kind of glamour that fashionable dogs would expect from a New York event including a chance to help some furry friends in need. The Metropolitan Pavilion will house this show where pet fashion buyers will meet pet product designers from around the world.

Two runway shows with fifteen jury selected designers will roll out both one-of-a-kind couture pieces of designer dog apparel as well as ready to wear fashions to buyers, media, and guests. Those who were feeling pretty attended casting calls for this show's runway model positions on July 14th.

World renowned dog stylists like Sathit Suratphiphit will reveal their new grooming techniques and the styling tricks that will help your poochie hide that little paunch or tilt of tail. You'll also find lines of grooming products to help manage any kind of coat or skin, keeping your designer dog looking lustrous and vital.

At Pet Fashion Week, the newest innovations in dog fashion, furnishings and other products will be on display and there are several award categories for the best in show for each. If you've got some ideas of your own, presentations on trends, luxury branding, public relations, retail and manufacturing could help you launch the next big thing in designer dog clothes, puppy clothes, and canine contrivances.

It's not all about fun fashion though. The Mayor's Alliance for New York City's Animals will function as the official charity for the event. This coalition of NY animal groups help to seek forever homes for stray pets, organize safe feral cat colonies, rescue retired race dogs, and provide spay and neuter services in hopes that fewer unwanted animals will find themselves needing a place to live. Members of the musical cast for Legally Blonde- the Musical will be hosting a look-alike contest and collecting donations at the Friday night kick-off party. Adoptable dogs will be attending PFW in hopes of finding that perfect home and some of these dogs will compete for the title of Mr. or Ms. Pet Fashion Week NY 2007. Want to vote for your favorite?
